SIGVARIS XVIth Congress IUP 2009 Monaco

INTERNATIONAL UNION OF PHLEBOLOGY XVIth CONGRESS

Winterthur, Switzerland, September 10th, 2009. Over 1500 international guests participated at the XVIth congress of the IUP which took place in Monaco, from August 31st to September 4th, 2009, at the Grimaldi Forum. The scientific program of the 2009 IUP Congress covered the numerous topics such as basic research, diagnostics, chronic venous diseases, venous thromboembolism, vascular malformations and venous injury and lymphology. The XVIth congress marked also the 50th anniversary of the French and German Societies of Phlebology.

SIGVARIS played a major role as platinum sponsor of the event, and welcomed hundreds of visitors at the SIGVARIS booth, one of the largest, and host of the famous VEIN MEN.

Among major events, SIGVARIS organized the SIGVARIS Symposium, held on Friday, September 4th, 2009. Leading experts of the world of Phlebology : F. Amsler, Dr. W. Blättler, Prof. Dr. E.O. Brizzio, Prof. Dr. J.J. Guex, Prof. Dr. P. Humbert, Dr. P. Kern, Dr. E. LeFloch, Prof. Dr. F. Mariani, Prof. Dr. H. Partsch, Prof. Dr. M. Perrin, Prof. Dr. E. Rabe, Dr. D. Rastel, Dr. S. Wagner gathered to present and discuss their original studies on Medical Compression Stockings for treatment of venous disorders and diseases.

The audience was concentrated and actively participated in the discussions that followed each presentation.

In addition to the symposium, SIGVARIS organized a memorable Beach Party at the Sea Lounge of the Monte Carlo Beach Club. Nearly 200 registered guests came to enjoy a delicious barbecue dinner by the beach, hear some music and dance. Some refreshed in the pool, under the beautiful moonlight and skies, and all had a wonderful and unforgettable time.

Overall, the UIP Congress was a real success and we already look forward to the XVIIth edition that will take place in Boston in 2013.
