"SIGVARIS" herein or also called "we" or "us".

2.    What is personal data?

Personal data is understood to be information about personal or factual circumstances which is or can be associated with you as a natural person and visitor to the websites. This includes, for example, your name, your address, your telephone number, your IP address and your e-mail address. Good to know: SIGVARIS protects data of legal entities similarly to personal data.

3.    What information does SIGVARIS collect from me?

SIGVARIS is committed to the principle of data economy. Personal data is only collected and stored when you give it to us of your own accord, such as in the course of your visit, your order or other correspondence.

a)    While visiting the websites

You do not have to register to use our websites. Upon each visit to the website, information is automatically sent from your browser to our server and stored temporarily in a so-called "logfile." The following data is captured in the process without your assistance and stored until automatic deletion:

  • The IP address of the requesting computer,
  • The data, time and duration of the access,

This data is collected and processed for the purpose of facilitating use of the SIGVARIS business portal (establishing a connection), ensuring durable system security and stability, facilitating the technical administration of the network infrastructure and optimizing our website and for internal statistical purposes. The IP address is analyzed only when occasioned by attacks to the SIGVARIS network infrastructure and continuously in anonymized form for statistical purposes without the possibility of drawing inferences as to who you are.

b)    While registering and ordering on the SIGVARIS business portal

The SIGVARIS business portal is only available for registered dealers. When you register with us as a dealer, we obtain personal data and business contact data from you in some circumstances. Your personal data is transmitted SSL-encrypted over the Internet. It is only possible to access your customer account after entering your personal password. The following personal data can be collected:

  • Your name
  • Your e-mail address
  • Your mailing address
  • Your country
  • Your telephone and/or fax number
  • Your login / user ID
  • The password you created

You should always handle your access information confidentially and close the browser window when you have finished the communication with us, especially if you use the computer together with others.

c)    While subscribing to our newsletter

If you have expressly consented, we use your e-mail address to send you our newsletter periodically. You will find a link at the end of each newsletter, which you can use to unsubscribe to the newsletter at any time. You can also cancel the newsletter at any time in writing or by e-mail with the responsible body indicated in section 1.

4.    For what purposes does SIGVARIS use my personal data?

SIGVARIS uses your personal data with the aspiration of offering you the best possible shopping and service experience.

Specifically, we use your data

  • to process your order
  • for the access authorization for the SIGVARIS business portal
  • for technical administration of the websites
  • for our own marketing purposes, such as user-based online advertising
  • for our own analyses and statistical purposes
  • to optimize our range of services.

Your data is used only to the extent required.

Such data is processed and used for other purposes only if you have expressly consented to such use.

Your data is blocked upon complete performance of the contract and full payment of the purchase price and purged when the tax and commercial regulations lapse unless you have expressly consented to further use of your data.

If you have registered as a dealer on the SIGVARIS business portal, you can view your current and filled orders through your user account.

5.    Does SIGVARIS share my personal data?

SIGVARIS will not share your personal data with third parties without your consent unless we are legally obligated or entitled to do so in the individual case. In general, we will use your personal data only within SIGVARIS and share it only if you have requested or consented that it be shared or we are entitled to do so – for example, if you have indicated that content is to be shared through social media. However, SIGVARIS occasionally draws upon third parties to process your personal data on our behalf

  • to communicate about the order
  • to perform a credit check
  • to ship the products ordered
  • to process your payments.

Your personal data is hosted and processed by a Swiss service provider on servers located in Switzerland. We carefully select our service providers who process your personal data on our behalf ("contract data processors" herein), and we test and document compliance with the technical and organizational measures they adopt. SIGVARIS maintains corresponding agreements with them on contract data processing.

When there is any transmission of personal data to subcontracting data processors headquartered in third countries outside the EU or the EEA, except for Switzerland, the contract data processors we have engaged shall ensure an appropriate level of data privacy through contractual arrangements with the subcontracting data processors through the so-called EU standard contractual clauses. They shall, in addition, directly commit to us that they will comply with the data privacy regulations. In this way, we ensure direct enforcement of the rights of affected parties, even with respect to subcontractors.

6.    Data collection through browser cookies and web analysis services

a)    Browser cookies

A "cookie" – also commonly known as a "web cookie" or "browser cookie" – is a computer file with a small amount of data which frequently includes a unique identifier. It is sent to your computer, your tablet or your mobile phone and automatically stored there when you visit a website. Every website can send its own cookie to your web browser if its settings permit this. Most modern browsers support cookies, but also give the user the option to deactivate them. You can have your browser reject all cookies or generate a message when a cookie is sent. Some of the functions or services on our websites function without cookies, but with limitations.

On our websites, cookies store information about your online preferences and thus enable us to customize our websites to your interests. When you visit the website again, your browser can be recognized by means of the cookie. In addition, we use cookies to continuously improve the quality of our service and to determine how our websites are used. To this end, we store the preferences of the user in cookies and track navigation trends and patterns of visitors to our websites.

Collection of data through the use of Google Analytics

This website uses Google Analytics, a web analysis service of Google Inc. ("Google"). Google Analytics uses so-called "cookies"—text files which are stored on your computer and which facilitate an analysis of your use of the website. The information that is generated by the cookie on your use of this website is usually transmitted to a server of Google in the U.S. and stored there. However, if IP anonymization is activated on this website, Google truncates your IP address beforehand within Member States of the European Union or in other countries that are parties to the Agreement on the European Economic Area. Only in exceptional cases is the full IP address transmitted to a server of Google in the U.S. and truncated there. Google will use this information on behalf of the operator of this website to analyze your use of the website, to compile reports on website activities and to perform other services for the website operator which are associated with usage of the website and the Internet. The IP address which is transmitted by your browser within the scope of Google Analytics is not conflated with other data of Google. You can prevent storage of the cookies through a corresponding setting in your browser software; however, we point out that, in such case, you may not be able to use all functions on this website to the full extent. In addition, you can prevent Google from acquiring the data (including your IP address) which is generated by the cookie based on your use of the website, as well as Google's processing of this data, by downloading and installing the browser plugin which is available at the following link: https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout?hl=de.

You can prevent acquisition by Google Analytics by clicking on the following link. Doing so will set an opt-out cookie which will prevent future acquisition of your data when you visit this website: Deactivate Google Analytics.

You can find further information on terms of use and data privacy at www.google.com/analytics/terms/de.html or at www.google.com/intl/de/analytics/privacyoverview.html. We point out to you that Google Analytics was extended by the code "gat._anonymizeIp();" on this website in order to ensure anonymized acquisition of IP addresses (so-called IP masking). SIGVARIS uses Google Analytics exclusively to make it easier for you to work with Internet applications and for us to design our websites adequately. Pseudonymized usage profiles are created and cookies used in this context. The information that is generated by the cookie about your user behavior at the visited website (for this, see section 3.a.) is transmitted to servers and stored there. The information is used to analyze the content of this website, to generate reports about activity on the website and to provide additional services in regard to website activity and Internet usage for the website operator. To this end, reports about your website activities are compiled for SIGVARIS to enable SIGVARIS to customize its online presence for your needs.

7.    How is my personal data protected?

To adequately protect your personal data, we have adopted technical and organizational measures for preventing unauthorized access. In addition, our employees are obligated to maintain confidentiality and to uphold data privacy.

8.    Amendments to the privacy policy of SIGVARIS

This privacy policy may be updated from time to time. It is therefore advisable to review it when you supply personal data to SIGVARIS. The most recent amendment date is indicated on this page. If you do not accept these changes, we would request that you stop using the websites and/or the business portal of SIGVARIS to transmit personal data to SIGVARIS.

9.    Further questions? Do you wish to object to the use of your data by SIGVARIS?
