Measuring for Compression Hosiery in the Management of Oedema

This CPD certified training day is aimed at therapists including district nurses, practice nurses and lymphoedema therapists, who are new to compression in the management of oedema or who require a refresher in the measuring and fitting of compression garments for the management of oedema.

The training day will provide an overview of the use of compression in oedema management including practical tips for measuring and ordering garments including Circular and Flat Knit garments.

CPD Hours

  1. Pre-course reading: 4 hours
  2. Face to face taught session: 6 hours

Total 10 hours CPD

Learning objectives:

  • To present current literature supporting the use of compression in Oedema Management.
  • Explain the rationale for the choice of fabric and compression in Oedema Management
  • Demonstrate the correct measuring for off the shelf and made – to- measure compression garments
  • Demonstrate ability to apply measuring guidelines to practice and to order the correct garment(s)

 

Management of Chronic Oedema

This CPD certified training day will provide an overview of the management of chronic oedema/ lymphoedema, utilizing a problem-solving approach to the components of care and choosing the appropriate therapy. The training is aimed at lymphoedema therapists, community & practice nurses and clinicians involved in the management of patients with chronic oedema.

CPD Hours

  1. Pre-course reading: 4 hours
  2. Face to face taught session: 6 hours

Total 10 hours CPD

Learning objectives:

  • Describe the components of the general circulatory system including the lymphatic system
  • Understand the theory behind the formation of tissue fluid and oedema
  • Define chronic oedema and the conditions associated with the terminology
  • Define the components of care in chronic oedema management and how to apply these to the individual patient.
  • Demonstrate understanding of the application of compression therapy in chronic oedema management.
  • Understand the issues around the selection of appropriate treatments for patients with chronic oedema

 

Useful Information

Will lunch be provided?

Lunch will be provided free of charge for all course participants. Please let us know in advance of any special dietary requirements.

Can I register for other people?

We would ask that you individually signup for a course, and that you fill out all the information requested on the application form, so that we can send you further information in relation to the course

Is there any cancellation fee or minimum course numbers?

There will be no cancellation fee if in the unfortunate case that you are unable to attend. We would also like to confirm that we require10 course members as a minimum number for all courses to go ahead. We will give you at least two weeks notice if unfortunately, the course needs to be cancelled/ re arranged

Where will the courses be held?

We ask that the person requesting the training is responsible for providing the training venue and be large enough to accommodate 10 attendees as well as the trainer, flip chart, projector and screen. Health care professionals seeing a course advertised can apply to attend the relevant course and must be able to make their own way to the course venue.

How will I know the course is full?

Any course that become full will be advertised as such on our educational page of our web site.
