Dates for 2025

This CPD certified training day will provide an overview of the management of chronic oedema/ lymphoedema, utilizing a problem-solving approach to the components of care and choosing the appropriate therapy.

The training is aimed at lymphoedema therapists, community & practice nurses and clinicians involved in the management of patients with chronic oedema.

CPD hours: 10 hours

  • Pre-course reading: 4 hours
  • Online Teams session: 6 hours

Learning objectives

  • Describe the components of the general circulatory system including the lymphatic system
  • Understand the theory behind the formation of tissue fluid and oedema
  • Define chronic oedema and the conditions associated with the terminology
  • Define the components of care in chronic oedema management and how to apply these to the individual patient
  • Demonstrate understanding of the application of compression therapy in chronic oedema management
  • Understand the issues around the selection of appropriate treatments for patients with chronic oedema

This CPD certified training day is aimed at those who are new to the management of lower limb ulceration or require a refresher in leg ulcer management.

The training day will provide an overview of the use of the leg ulcer treatment pathway and the use of compression in the management of lower limb ulceration.

CPD hours: 10 hours

  • Pre-course reading: 4 hours
  • Face to face taught session: 6 hours

Learning objectives

  • Describe the components of the general circulatory system including the lymphatic system. 
  • Define venous and arterial ulceration, causes and the conditions associated with the terminology.
  • Understand the importance of assessment and diagnosis.
  • Deliver the most up to date, evidenced based care linked to The National Wound Care Strategy
  • How to refer to the use of compression therapy for peripheral oedema: considerations in people with heart failure.
  • Discuss and describe the components of care in lower leg ulceration.
  • Understand the principles of management for lower leg ulceration and the long-term maintenance of healed ulceration. 
  • Understand product choice in the management of lower limb ulceration.

The training day will provide an overview of the use of compression management of upper limb lymphoedema as well as the assessment and management of upper limb lymphoedema.

Learning objectives

  • To have a basic knowledge of the circulatory system
  • To have a basic understanding of the causes of upper limb lymphoedema
  • To understand what is behind compression and its therapeutic benefits in upper limb lymphoedema
  • To understand the positioning of products in the management of upper limb lymphoedema
  • To be able to demonstrate ability to apply measuring guidelines to practice

This CPD certified training day is aimed at those who are new to the management of lipalgia (lipoedema) syndrome.

The training day will provide an overview of the use of compression management of lipalgia (lipoedema) as well as the assessment and management of lipalgia (lipoedema).

CPD hours: 6 hours

  • Pre-course reading: 2 hours
  • Face to face taught session: 4 hours

Learning objectives

  • What is lipalgia syndrome (previously lipoedema).
  • How to assess patients
  • Differential diagnosis
  • Disease management
  • Treatment options
  • How to sign post for onward care and support

To ensure we can provide you with all the necessary details about the course, please sign up individually and complete all required fields on the application form.

If, unfortunately, you are unable to attend, no cancellation fee will be charged. Please note that a minimum of 10 participants is required for each course to proceed. Should we need to cancel or reschedule a course, we will provide you with at least two weeks' notice.

Our CPD Study Days are conducted on Microsoft Teams. To ensure a smooth learning experience, we kindly request that the organiser ensures all participants have access to the necessary technology, including a reliable internet connection and a compatible device.

Healthcare professionals interested in an advertised course are encouraged to apply and must ensure they can log in to Teams at the scheduled time
